Mr. Hugh Thackston

U.S. Army retiree

BEECH ISLAND — Mr. Hugh Wilson Thackston, 80, of 49 Riverbend Drive, died Tuesday, July 21, 1998, at Pepperhill Rehabilitation & Nursing Center, Aiken.Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Mr. Thackston, a native of Farmville, Va., had retired from the U.S. Army and served in World War II and the Korean War. He was Methodist.

Survivors include his wife, Mattie Lewis Thackston; one step-son, Sherrill Caldwell, LaGrange, Ga.; one stepdaughter, Joyce Plunkett, Augusta; one brother, James Henry Thackston, Kenbridge, Va.; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be members of the U.S. Army Honors Detail.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Hatcher Funeral Home, Langley.

Mrs. Mattie B. Thackston
Mrs. Mattie B. Thackston, 88, of Mesena Lane, died Saturday, July 29, 2000, at her residence.Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today at Hillcrest Memorial Park with the Rev. Don Prosser officiating.***********************

Mrs. Thackston, a native of Eastman, was a member of Jackson United Methodist Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Sherrill Caldwell, LaGrange, and Shirley Plunkett, Augusta; and five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Friends may call at the residence of Shirley Plunkett, or at Starling-Hatcher Funeral Home.

Mrs. Billye A. Thackston

BELVEDERE, S.C. – Funeral services for Mrs. Billye A. Thackston, 77, of Belair Road, Belvedere, SC, who died February 15, 2005, will be conducted Friday morning at 11 o’clock from the Stephen D. Posey Funeral Home. Rev. Henry Payne officiating. Interment in Pineview Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Thackston was a native of Six Mile, SC having made Belvedere her home for the past 54 years. She was a Baptist and retired from Westinghouse at Savannah River Site. Mrs. Thackston was the mother of the late Mark K. Thackston. Survivors include her husband, William M. “Bill” Thackston; a son, Steve Arnold Thackston, Atlanta; a daughter Sandra Roton, North Augusta; a sister, Virginia Merck, Greenville; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Pallbearers will be Al Woodward, David James, Marion Mundy, Fred Holt, Tom Calliham and Julian Cook. The family will receive friends at the funeral home this Thursday evening from 6 to 8. Stephen D.
