Original 1936 letter from Emmet Wilmer Thaxton (1867-1942), son of David Thomas Thaxton (1810-1880) and grandson of William Thaxton (1782-1839) and Catherine Tate of Prince Edward Co. and Bedford Co., Virginia, to Thaxton family historian W. G. “Grady” McDonough:
July 27, 1936
Mr. W. G. McDonough
I do not have much information in regard to the Thaxton family, which I am sorry to say. My father was named David Thomas Thaxton, and his brothers were James, William, Nat, John and Bud Thaxton two sisters but do not know their names, but one married a Christian and the other Campbell, they came from Prince Edward Co. Virginia. The post office was named after my father also station he gave the land for it to [be] built on.
I have a few addresses that might help you. I had a letter not long ago from Mrs. Della T. Tippetts Lovell Wyo. and several years ago from Mrs. W. H. Thaxton 302 – E – 12st Austin Texas. Do hope these address may help you. Would be glad to hear from [you] again.
Emmet W. Thaxton
